A-Rod to Lead Stadium Honor For Hurt Hurler

A New Jersey Little League player who was seriously injured during a game will be honored at Yankee Stadium tomorrow night by his hero, Alex Rodriguez.

But 12-year-old Steven Domalewski, still fighting to recover from the line drive that slammed into his chest, sending him into a rare form of cardiac arrest on June 6, won’t be able to attend the event.

His older brother, Jimmy, 15, and sister, Arlene, 18, will be at the Stadium as will his devoted parents, Joseph and Nancy Domalewski, to accept a plaque from A-Rod.

“Does Steven know [about the event]? I wish he did know,” said Nancy Domalewski. “He is minimally conscious, but he’s moving in the right direction.”

Also to be honored in a pregame, home plate ceremony as part of Disability Awareness Night at the Stadium is neuropsychologist Dr. Philip De Fina, who is treating Steven.

De Fina heads the International Brain Research Foundation and is director of neurotherapies at the Neurometric Evaluation and Treatment Center for the NYU School of Medicine’s Brain Research Laboratories.
